Description: The Temple Quarry Trail is a quick, easy access trail that is conveniently located in town. The trail was made by the early settlers to access the Quarry on the south west side of the Black Hill. Engravings and markings can still be seen in rocks left by the early settlers. The large lava rock was need for the foundation and basement walls of the St. George Temple, because the stone was “impervious to the alkali soil”
It’s approximately 1 mile from the parking lot to the Quarry but the trail continues for another mile and has scenic views of St. George and Green Valley
