Spending time at the lake is by far one of the favorite things to do for locals in Southern Utah. There are 3 lakes in Southern Utah that the locals love.

Sand Hollow: A local favorite for water fun in the Southern Utah sun. Sand Hollow is Utah’s newest state park. With some of the warmest waters in Utah It’s great for swimming, boating, fishing, jet skis, and cliff jumping. With the best sandy shoreline in the area, it’s great for laying out and playing volleyball, Frisbee and ATV’s.
Cost: Day Use -$10 per vehicle up to 8 people
Senior Day Use-$5 Seniors 62+ per vehicle up to 8 people.
Walk In -$4 per person
Annual Pass-$75 available for purchase at the entrance gate.
Senior Adventure Pass (Annual)-$35 available for purchase at the gate.
Camping Fees:
Westside Campground: $28 (full hookups)($15 extra vehicle fee)
Sand Pit Campground: $18 (no hookups) or $25 (water, electric hookups) ($15 extra vehicle fee)
Primitive Camping Area: $15 per vehicle (no facilities)

Quail Lake is is usually less crowded than Sand Hollow. It’s good for boating, fishing, RV or tent camping as well and there are some nearby petroglyphs.
Day-use fee: $10; $5 for Utah seniors 62 and older
Camping fees: Main campground: $15 ($12 extra vehicle fee)

Gun lock 15 miles northwest of St. George in scenic red rock country, lies Gunlock Reservoir where boating, water sports and quality fishing for bass and catfish attract visitors.
Entrance Fees
$7 for day-use, including use of watercraft launches
$4 per day use for Seniors 62+
$75 annual pass (can be purchased at the park during boat ramp hours posted above).
$35 Senior Adventure (annual) Pass (can be purchased at the park during boat ramp hours posted above.)
Camping Fees
A primitive campground with 5 sites is available – vault toilets, no potable water.
Camping fee is $13 per site. Camping is allowed on beaches. The camping fee is $13.00 per vehicle.

Other:
If you are willing to drive a couple hours, Lake Powell in Arizona and Lake Mead in Nevada are rated as some of the best places for boating and house boating.
